After spending 18 years working in corporate America, Fred noticed a significant opportunity to start CFO Shield, an enterprise which is focused on an underserved segment of the market. CFO Shield takes a consultative approach with clients to create solutions tailored to their specific needs.
Fred’s career includes diverse experiences that helped him see how small business is a key driver of economic growth, but often misses out on services that are only traditionally available to larger companies. Fred has worked in global operations, giving him a detailed understanding of outsourcing operations. He has direct credit experience from which he learned how small business can strategically use debt to grow their business. Fred has led teams responsible for delivering the best possible customer service. He has also been accountable for financial reporting and analysis, giving him a keen understanding of key financial drivers that can optimize business performance.
Fred is also an active supporter of his community, giving his time to support several service organizations and his favorite charity, Patriot PAWS Service Dogs of Rockwall, Texas.
In 2017, he was appointed by Governor Greg Abbott to serve as a member on the Judicial Compensation Commission (JCC). The mission of the JCC is to recommend the salaries for all justices and judges of the Supreme Court, the Court of Criminal Appeals, the courts of appeals, and the district courts. After 2 years Governor Greg Abbott called on Fred in 2019 to further serve Texas a Commissioner for the State Commission for Judicial Conduct (SCJC). The independent Texas state agency responsible for investigating allegations of judicial misconduct and judicial disability.
Fred earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University with a double major in Finance and Economics. He is keenly focused on enabling companies that are growth oriented, assisting business owners to achieve their goals.
Prior to joining CFO Shield, Monica proudly performed in such roles as Senior Bookkeeper, Staff Accountant, Accounting Manager, and Director of Accounting. Her experience includes the position of Assistant Controller for a Fortune 500 Corporation, as well as working with large businesses reaching between 4 to 6 million in revenue.
Over the course of 21 years in the industry, Monica has passionately gained knowledge of all accounting and financial principles.
Today, she serves as an active committee member of the Salary Grievance Board for her local county. Holding an entrepreneurial spirit, Monica continues to focus on the daily financial growth of various businesses while providing support to her team at CFO Shield.
Monica also enjoys time with her family, school events, travel and leisure—even quiet nights watching movies or just simply relaxing while taking in life’s greatest pleasures.
With 10+ years experience in financial reporting, auditing and taxation, CFO Shield was a natural fit for Laura.
Previously, Laura has exceeded in positions including Corporate Controller, Regional Controller, Accounting Manager and Financial Analyst for both private and public companies. Laura has a diverse knowledge covering multiple industries including manufacturing, healthcare, recycling, metals and public accounting.
In her spare time, Laura enjoys traveling, watching basketball and football games, spending time with family and friends, and the sounds of a great music playlist.
Laura Goodwin is a Bookkeeper for CFO Shield with eight years of bookkeeping and office support experience.
Her qualifications are multi-faceted thanks to a diverse employment history. Clear communication, excellent customer service and relationship building skills were perfected while in Account Executive roles at Direct Marketing firms. Data management, relational database expertise, and problem solving add another level of skills that is helpful in today’s cloud-based accounting platforms.
Laura enjoys growing relationships with her clients and exceeding their expectations.
Laura spends her free time raising teenagers, enjoying family and friends, and researching genealogy.
Cheryl has been with CFO Shield from the very beginning.
It has been a pleasure for Cheryl to see this business grow to the success it has today. Her 45 years of experience in this industry stretches across all aspects of financial reporting including payroll processing (quarterly payroll tax filing and filing of sales taxes) and all areas of bookkeeping from daily posting of transactions to detailed account analysis to financial statement preparation and review.
At the time of retirement, Cheryl held the position of Controller for CFO Shield. She currently assists on a part-time basis with bookkeeping for select clients.
Kelly Beckworth is the Administrative Assistant at CFO Shield. Originally from the Austin area, Kelly graduated with her bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University and has lived in Fort Worth since graduation.
Kelly has worked previously in the legal field as a paralegal/legal assistant. Kelly is a member of Polished Fort Worth and volunteers with Craft Fort Worth.
In her free time, Kelly enjoys spending time with her son and cheering on Texas Tech sports teams.
